The Center for Anti-Trafficking Research and Empowerment (CATRE) is a Uganda-
based nonprofit organization founded in 2025 to address the complex realities of human
trafficking through a holistic, survivor-centered approach. We work at the intersection of
prevention, research, advocacy, capacity building, and survivor support, with a firm
commitment to justice, compassion, and empowerment. At CATRE, we believe that
meaningful change begins with evidence. We conduct rigorous, context-specific research
to understand the root causes, patterns, and impact of trafficking, particularly in marginalized
communities. This knowledge drives our programs, strengthens frontline responses, and
shapes survivor-informed policies that are effective and sustainable. We build partnerships across sectors, equip communities with tools to prevent exploitation, and connect survivors to
critical resources that support healing and reintegration.
