Driving Systemic Change Through Evidence and Collaboration
At CATRE, we believe that meaningful, lasting change in the fight against human trafficking must be supported by strong policies, sustained political will, and adequate investment. Our advocacy work focuses on bridging the gap between evidence and action to influence laws, policies, and public dialogue at every level.
Our Approach
We use a data-driven advocacy strategy to promote the enactment, enforcement, and financing of anti-trafficking frameworks in Uganda and the wider region. By engaging policymakers, mobilizing communities, and amplifying survivor voices, we work to ensure that national and local responses are informed, coordinated, and impactful.
What We Do
Policy Engagement
We participate in national, regional, and international policy spaces to influence anti-trafficking agendas.
Evidence-Based Publications
We produce and share policy briefs, research reports, and position papers to shape public discourse and guide decision-making.
Stakeholder Convening
We host an annual national conference and thematic dialogues to bring together civil society, government, and survivor leaders for joint action.
Localized Advocacy
We conduct targeted advocacy in high-risk communities, focusing on promoting and implementing the Anti-Human Trafficking Act.
Media Partnerships
We collaborate with media houses to raise public awareness, shift harmful narratives, and build political momentum for reform.
Our Advocacy Priorities
- Increase investment in anti-trafficking research and survivor-centered services.
- Influence legal and policy reforms to align with global best practices and human rights standards.
- Promote joint programming among government, civil society, and development partners to strengthen coordination and impact.
